I love summer! I look forward to it every year. Until it starts to arrive and then suddenly I get nostalgic for storm season. I yearn for misty mornings, dynamic skies and excitable waters. This shift from turbulence to peace is challenging for me as a photographer. I have to change my mindset while I'm out in the field. I have to shift what I focus on. If I am unable to make the shift, I miss the beauty right in front of me while looking for something that no longer exists.

I have noticed the same challenge in my personal life. Sometimes we get comfortable with what is familiar even if it is difficult to endure. Being comfortable with peace and calm can be challenging if you've lived in the storm for an extended time. The end of storm season reminds me to seek peace in my life. To step away from drama and darkness and move into the sun.
